Joining Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will join short sentences into a paragraph. You will use the words "and", "but", "so" and "because".

Explanation

• "And" adds more information.
• "But" shows a difference.
• "So" gives a result.
• "Because" gives a reason.
• "Also" adds information too.
• Use a comma before "but" and "so" in a longer sentence.
• Do not use "and" all the time.

Examples

1. It was raining, so we stayed inside.
2. We can't go out because it's too dark.
3. I like the park, but it is far from my home.

Remember!

• "So" is followed by the result.
• "Because" is followed by the reason.
