Time, Place and Abstract Nouns

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to say when and where something happens. You will also learn about abstract nouns.

Explanation

• A noun phrase can answer "when?" or "where?".
• Time phrases: at 8 am, in the future, before the lesson.
• Place phrases: in my house, in the classroom.
• Abstract nouns name ideas you cannot touch: behaviour, discipline, power, information.
• Abstract nouns are often uncountable. They have no plural.

Examples

1. School starts at 8 am.
2. My school is in my house.
3. Good behaviour in the classroom helps everybody.

Remember!

• Say "information", not "informations".
• Use "at" with a clock time: "at 8 am".
