Конспект

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to say how much with the words too, enough, quite and rather.

Explanation

  • "Too" means more than you need. It shows a problem.
  • "Not ... enough" means less than you need.
  • "Quite" and "rather" mean a medium or fairly large degree.
  • Word order: too + adjective, but adjective + enough.
  • With a noun, put "enough" before the noun: enough time.

Examples

  1. It's too dark to go out.
  2. The box is too heavy. I'm not strong enough.
  3. This task is rather difficult, but we have enough time.

Remember!

  • Say "strong enough", not "enough strong".
  • After "too" + adjective, use "to" + verb: "too tired to go".

Check yourself

  2. Where does "enough" go with an adjective?
