Writing About the Past

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to write about a past experience.

Explanation

• Use the past simple.
• Say where and when you stayed. Use time words: last summer, two years ago.
• Use was or were to describe the place.
• Say what you did and what the best and worst thing was.
• Regular verbs end in -ed: stay, stayed.
• Irregular verbs change: sleep, slept; see, saw; swim, swam; have, had; go, went.

Examples

1. We stayed in an unusual hotel. It was an old ship under the sea.
2. We swam with fish every morning.
3. The worst thing was the cold.

Remember!

• Do not write "stay" for the past. Write "stayed".
• Add details, not only facts.
