Конспект

What are we learning today?

You will learn the difference between countable and uncountable nouns. You will use them correctly.

Explanation

  • You can count some things: a pizza, two pieces, three beds.
  • You cannot count other things: food, water, rice, work, music.
  • Uncountable nouns have no plural. We do not say "works".
  • Use a lot of or lots of with both kinds.
  • Use in with places and times: in India, in October.

Examples

  1. The pizza has got eight pieces.
  2. There's lots of work to do.
  3. I want some water.

Remember!

  • Work is uncountable.
  • A lot of is good with both kinds of nouns.

Check yourself

  1. Is "work" countable or uncountable?
  2. Which is correct: in India or on India?
