What are we learning today?

You will spell family words correctly. You will also learn two spelling patterns.

Explanation

• Learn family words: grandparents, granddad, grandma, aunt, uncle, cousin, daughter, granddaughter.
• Some short adjectives end in one vowel and one consonant. Double the consonant before -er and -est: big, bigger, biggest.
• Add -ful to some words: use, useful; wonder, wonderful; colour, colourful.
• With beauty, change y to i: beautiful.
• Learn a word like this: look, say, cover, write, check.

1. big - bigger - the biggest
2. red - redder - the reddest
3. beauty - beautiful

Remember!

• Double the last consonant in big and red.
• Beauty changes to beautiful.
