Active and Passive Forms

What are we learning today?

You will use the present simple, the past simple and the passive in descriptions.

Explanation

• Present simple: facts and habits. The sun goes down in November.
• Past simple: finished events. They saw the Northern Lights.
• Passive: be + past participle. Use it when the doer is not important.
• Use active when you tell what someone did.

Examples

1. A large part of the reserve is closed to the public.
2. They made the film here. The film was made here.
3. The path is cleaned every week.

Remember!

• Say "is closed", not "is close".
• Say "was made", not "was make".
