Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will say how an action is done and how much something is.
Explanation
- Adverbs of manner say how. Add -ly to an adjective: quiet - quietly.
- Some adverbs are irregular: good - well, fast - fast, hard - hard.
- Put a manner adverb after the verb.
- Degree adverbs say how much: very, really, quite, rather, almost, too, enough.
- Put a degree adverb before the adjective.
- Quite means a little. Rather means more than you expect.
- Too means more than you need. Not enough means less than you need.
Examples
- An old lady was standing quietly.
- The film was quite funny.
- It's too cold to swim.
- The room isn't warm enough.
Remember!
- Say "He speaks well", not "He speaks good".
- Say "She works hard", not "She works hardly".
