Clauses and If Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will join ideas with who, which, that, where, before and after. You will also write sentences with if for things that are always true.

Explanation

• Use who for people. Use which or that for things.
• Use where for places.
• Before and after show the time order.
• Zero conditional: if + present simple, present simple.

Examples

1. A cyclist is a person who rides a bike.
2. There are cycle paths where cars aren't allowed.
3. After we got off the ferry, we found a taxi.
4. If you heat ice, it melts.

Remember!

• Do not use who for things.
• Do not use will in a zero conditional.
• Do not repeat the thing: say "tunnels which they can't use", not "tunnels which they can't use them".
