Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will learn to find the main points of a short text. You will use a biography and the start of a story as models.
Explanation
- Main points answer these questions: Who? What? Why?
- Read the text once. Do not use a dictionary.
- George Eliot (1819-1880) is the pen name of Mary Ann Evans. She was a famous writer. She wrote seven novels. Many ideas in her book The Mill on the Floss (1860) came from her own life.
- In the story, Maggie and Tom are sister and brother. Mrs Tulliver is their mother. Maggie has a big idea: she wants to cut her hair, because her aunts criticise it.
