Linking Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will learn to join short sentences into a paragraph with linking words.

Explanation

• Use "because" to give a reason.
• Use "so" to give a result.
• Use "and" to add an idea. Use "but" for a contrast.
• Use "for example" to give an example.
• Use "another danger is" to add one more idea.
• Start with the main idea. Then give reasons and an example.
• Do not start every sentence with "I".

Examples

1. I can't come because I've had an accident.
2. I cut my finger, so I put on a plaster.
3. I fell and broke my arm.

Remember!

• Because gives a reason. So gives a result.
• Do not write many very short sentences.
