Retelling a Story

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to retell a story in your own words. You will tell it in five or six sentences.

Explanation

Keep the order and the key facts.

• Start with who and where or when.
• Use First, Then, After that and In the end.
• Finish with how it ended.
• Use the past for finished events. Use the present for what is happening now. Do not learn the text by heart.

Examples

1. "Laura is eighteen. She will spend three months in Goa, India."
2. "When she arrived, the project manager was waiting at the airport. In the first week she had Hindi classes."
3. "Last summer a girl met a stranger on a train."

Remember!

• Use your own words and do not change the facts.
• Do not skip the ending.
