What are we learning today?

You will learn to check new words in books and on digital devices.

Explanation

• A book resource can be a vocabulary bank or a dictionary.
• A digital resource can be an online dictionary or an app.
• In an entry, look for the part of speech: v (verb), n (noun), adj (adjective).
• Look for the meaning and an example.
• A digital tool can also let you listen to the pronunciation.
• Study tip: write an example sentence next to a new word.

Examples

1. turn on (v): I always turn on my laptop when I get home.
2. useless (adj) means "without use": This old computer is useless.
