Writing About the Past

What are we learning today?

You will learn how to write five or six sentences about something in the past. It can be real or imagined.

Explanation

Use the past simple and time words.

• Plan: When? Where? Who with? What happened? How did it end?
• Link your sentences with first, then, after that and in the end.
• Regular verbs end in -ed: visit, visited.
• Irregular verbs change: go, went; have, had; see, saw.

Examples

1. "Two years ago my family went to Moscow."
2. "For the first week, we had Hindi classes."
3. "Last winter we went to Shymbulak. We skied all day and drank hot tea."

Remember!

• Use the past simple in a story about the past.
• Say "went", not "goed".
• Start with a time word.
