Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will learn to use any, no, each and every in sentences.
Explanation
- Use any in questions and negative sentences: Is there any traffic? There aren't any ladders.
- No means "not any". Use it in a sentence without "not": There are no cars.
- Every means all, as one group. It takes a singular verb: Every day there is more traffic.
- Each means one by one: Each child has a ticket.
- Do not use two negatives: say "There aren't any cars" or "There are no cars".
Examples
- Are there any ladders in the garden?
- There is no ladder in the garden.
- Every student has a book.
- Each child has a ticket.
Remember!
- Never say "There aren't no cars".
- Every is followed by a singular verb.
Check yourself
- Choose any or no: "There isn't ___ traffic near my house."
- Write with no: "There aren't any cars."
- Complete: "Every student ___ (have) a book."
