What are we learning today?

You will learn words for shops and places in a town. You will also learn how to find a percentage.

Explanation

• Shops: bookshop, chemist, newsagent, supermarket, electronics shop.
• Places: library, theatre, post office, castle, bus station.
• Use a pattern: "A theatre is a building where actors perform."
• Per cent means "out of 100".
• To find a percentage: part / whole x 100.

Examples

1. Where do you go when you feel ill? To the chemist.
2. 15 of 60 chocolates: 15 / 60 = 0.25. Then 0.25 x 100 = 25%.
3. 30 of 60 pupils: 30 / 60 = 0.5. Then 0.5 x 100 = 50%.

Remember!

• Do not forget to multiply by 100.
• Do not mix up chemist and newsagent.
