Understanding hard questions

What are we learning today?

You will learn to understand longer questions and to answer them correctly.

Explanation

• Find the question word, the tense and the subject.
• When asks about time. Why asks about a reason. Where asks about a place. How asks about a way.
• Some questions are passive: "When is a safety test given to children?"
• Some questions are about plans: "How are you getting there?"
• Answer in the same tense.
• If you do not understand, say: "Could you repeat the question, please?"

Examples

1. Why are so many bikes ridden in Amsterdam? Because the city is organised for cyclists.
2. How are you getting there? By coach.
3. What are you doing on Monday morning? I'm playing tennis.
