You will use "when" to say what happens or happened at a time.

Explanation

• A "when" clause tells you the time of an action.
• For habits, use the present with the present: I play football when I am free.
• For finished events, use the past with the past: When we arrived, the shop was closed.
• You can put the "when" clause first. Then use a comma after it.

Examples
