The Author's Attitude

What are we learning today?

You will find out what the author thinks or feels about a topic.

Explanation

• The words the author chooses show the attitude.
• Look for adjectives such as favourite, dangerous and wonderful.
• Look for exclamation marks and words like very, really and only.
• Ask: Does the author like it? Is the author worried?

Examples

1. The husky is the Inuit's favourite helper! The author admires huskies.
2. Hippos are very dangerous. The author warns you.
3. This food is terrible. The attitude is negative.

• A fact is not a feeling.
• Write the author's opinion, not your own.
