All and Other

What are we learning today?

You will use the words all and other with plural nouns. You will talk about a whole group and the rest.

Explanation

• All means the whole group. Use all with a plural noun.
• You can say all the cyclists or all kinds of people.
• Other means different ones. Use other with a plural noun.
• Other has no -s before a noun.
• Use the other for the second of two things.

Examples

1. All the passengers left the ferry.
2. Other cities should follow its example.
3. One bike is red. The other is blue.

Remember!

• Say other cities, not others cities.
• Say all the cyclists.
• Use others alone: Some like trains, others prefer cars.
