Asking Simple Questions

What are we learning today?

You will ask simple questions to get information. You will use the right word order.

Explanation

• In a yes/no question, the verb comes before the subject: Are you going to study Science?
• Short answers: Yes, I am. / No, he isn't.
• A wh-question starts with a question word: who, what, where, when, why, how.
• Pattern: question word + be + subject + going to + verb.
• In the present simple, use do or does: Do you wear a uniform?

Examples

1. What are you going to do after class?
2. Is he going to get a job? - Yes, he is.
3. Where are you going to spend the summer?

Remember!

• Say "Are you going to study?", not "You are going to study?".
• Do not forget "to" after "going".
• Do not use "does" with I or you.
