Writing About a Place

What are we learning today?

You will plan, write and check a short description of your favourite place.

Explanation

Use three stages.

1. Plan. Make notes. Where is it? Why is it nice in one season? What animals live there? How can you get home?
2. Write. Use frames: "My favourite place is ...", "It's got ...", "There are ...", "There's also a ...".
3. Check. Did you use adjectives? Did you use your notes?

Put adjectives in order: opinion, size, age, colour.

Examples

1. Plan: place - park; season - autumn; animals - squirrels; way home - bus 5.
2. My favourite place is the park. There are also squirrels.
3. a beautiful big tree

Remember!

• Always make a plan before you write.
• Check your text after writing.
• Say "a big red towel", not "a red big towel".
