What are we learning today?

You will learn to describe where and when with longer phrases. You will also learn abstract nouns.

Explanation

• A place phrase can be: the + adjective + noun + preposition + place.
• A time phrase can be: in the evening, on Saturday mornings, until 1998.
• Abstract nouns name ideas, not objects. Examples are population, temperature and business.
• Put the adjective before the noun.

Examples

1. The Dubai Mall is the biggest shopping centre in the world.
2. Astana is the capital of Kazakhstan.
3. In the evening, near the old castle, we had dinner.

Remember!

• Use "the" before a superlative phrase.
• An abstract noun is an idea.
