What are we learning today?

You will learn how to read a short text by yourself and understand it.

Explanation

• First, look at the title, the pictures and any fact box.
• Then read the text once for the main idea. Do not stop.
• Next, read again for details. Mark new words. Guess them from the text or check them in a word list.
• Last, answer the tasks.
• Fiction is an invented story with characters.
• Non-fiction gives facts and information.

Examples

1. A novel about Maggie is fiction.
2. An article about trains in Kazakhstan is non-fiction.
3. An email about a trip to stay with cousins is a personal text.

Remember!

• Do not read word by word.
• Answer after you read the whole text.
