What are we learning today?

You will learn to spell words about shops and places. You will also learn the prefix un-.

Explanation

• Look at tricky letters: chemist, library, neighbour, theatre, cathedral.
• Remember the first r in library.
• The prefix un- makes the opposite: usual, unusual.
• The base word does not change.
• Use this method: look, cover, write, check.

Examples

1. bookshop, chemist, newsagent
2. cathedral, library, theatre, neighbour
3. friendly, unfriendly; tidy, untidy; happy, unhappy

Remember!

• Do not change the word after un-: unhappy, not unhapy.
• Practise with look, cover, write, check.
