What are we learning today?
You will use adverbs of movement, frequency and time in short sentences.
Explanation
- Adverbs of movement tell you how things move. They are up and down, left and right, in and out, and round and round.
- Adverbs of frequency tell you how often. They are always, usually, often, sometimes and never.
- Adverbs of frequency go before the main verb. Adverbs of movement go after the verb.
- Many adverbs end in -ly. Make them from adjectives: quick, quickly.
- Yesterday and last week are time words for the past.
Examples
- Look left and right when you cross the road.
- Ellie often goes to see her aunt.
- The tongue moves quickly in and out.
- Where was Mike last week?
Remember!
- Say "She often goes", not "She goes often".
- Use quickly with a verb, not quick.
Check yourself
- Make an adverb from the adjective: quick.
- Which time word is for the past: tomorrow or yesterday?
