What are we learning today?
You will use countable and uncountable nouns in the right way.
Explanation
Countable nouns can be counted: one book, two books, three sheep. Uncountable nouns cannot be counted: rice, water, grass, meat, fruit.
- With countable nouns, use a, an, two, many.
- With uncountable nouns, use some, much, a lot of.
- For time, say "in the morning", "at night", "on Monday".
Examples
- There are 20 white sheep on the farm.
- People eat a lot of rice.
- There is some water in the glass.
Remember!
- Say "sheep" and "fish" for one or many.
- Do not say "two rices" or "many waters".
Check yourself
- Is "rice" countable or uncountable?
- Which is correct: "in the morning" or "on the morning"?
