Features of Text Genres

What are we learning today?

You will find the typical features of a blog and an online forum.

Explanation

• A blog has a title and is written in the first person: I'm Paco.
• A blog often ends with a question to the reader.
• A forum has many people. Their names come one after another.
• In a forum, people use the present continuous for what is happening now.
• Blogs and forums use informal language, for example Hi and Bye.
• Formal words like "Dear Sir" are not typical for a blog.

• Look at the title, the writer, the tense and the end.
