Guessing Words from Context

What are we learning today?

You will understand a new word from the sentences around it.

Explanation

• Do not stop at a new word.
• Read the whole sentence. Read the sentences around it.
• The next sentence can explain the word.
• Try the context first. Use a dictionary after that.

Examples

1. In the morning I go to a technical college, and in the afternoon I work in a garage. A mechanic works with cars.
2. My mum is cooking breakfast. It is morning.
3. Imagine a line from the North Pole to the South Pole. That's the Earth's axis.

• Read the whole sentence before you guess.
