Longer Sentences

What are we learning today?

You will learn to make your sentences longer. Then you can write a short paragraph about yourself.

Explanation

• Add a detail to a short sentence. Say who, where or when.
• Join ideas with and, but or because.
• Use "and" to add an idea. Use "but" for a different idea. Use "because" for a reason.
• Write one main idea and one extra detail in each sentence.
• A paragraph has four or five sentences.

Examples

1. I have a brother, and he is twenty.
2. Dad starts work at 3 pm but finishes after midnight.
3. I live with my parents, and my grandma lives near us.

Remember!

• One sentence has one main idea and one detail.
• Use and, but or because to join ideas.
