Present and Past Simple

What are we learning today?

You will talk about routines with the present simple. You will talk about finished actions with the past simple.

Explanation

• Use the present simple for routines: "I get up at 6.00." With he, she and it, add -s: "She starts work."
• Present negative: don't / doesn't + verb.
• Use the past simple for finished actions. Regular verbs end in -ed: walked, visited, arrived.
• Past negative: didn't + base verb.
• Past time words: yesterday, last week, ago.

Examples

1. I walk to school every day.
2. I walked to school yesterday.
3. We didn't work outside.

Remember!

• Say "didn't work", not "didn't worked".
• Do not forget -s: "He starts".
