Конспект
What are we learning today?
You will find how an author feels in a short text. You will look for positive and negative words.
Explanation
- The attitude is what the author thinks or feels.
- Positive words show good feelings: lucky, happy, wonderful, famous, popular.
- Negative words show bad feelings, for example "terrible".
- An exclamation mark (!) often shows strong feeling.
- A fact is not an attitude.
Examples
- The Baxters are a very happy family.
- It's a wonderful time!
- This is a terrible film. (negative)
Remember!
- Look for positive or negative words.
- A fact only gives information.
Check yourself
- Which word shows a positive attitude: "lucky" or "terrible"?
- What does "!" often show?
- Is "The house has seven bedrooms" an attitude or a fact?
