Will and Going To

What are we learning today?

You will talk about the future. You will make predictions and tell about plans.

Explanation

• Use will or won't for predictions and guesses about the future.
• The form is will + verb. It is the same for all persons.
• Words like "I think" and "I hope" often go with will.
• Use am, is or are + going to + verb for plans you have already decided.

Examples

1. The weather won't be very nice tomorrow.
2. I think we'll have a great time!
3. Where are you going to stay?
4. My mother isn't going to cook on holiday.

Remember!

• After will, use the verb without "to": "I will go", not "I will to go".
• After going to, use the base verb: "He is going to go".
